Thursday Night Television

They seem to be showing a lot more of Catalina's assets this season than in previous seasons. Cheap ratings gimmick?

So everything is back to normal on The Office as far as characters go. Pam is back but seems to have a case of the cold feet or "I don't wanna be heres". I suspect the season cliffhanger will be her running away. I can't remember anything particularly funny in this episode. The planting marijuana in Toby's desk didn't make me laugh at all. This guy at my office keeps talking about a spin off that is in the works. I haven't heard anything about it.

At first I thought Steve Martin is a great guest star, but the ending seemed a little stupid to me.

I didn't watch the other show. When an 11 year old is in the room, you become instantly aware that the whole show is nothing but sex jokes. Bad sex jokes. Bad as in not funny. So, I switched it to the Celtics game.

The Orifice

Pretty lackluster The Office this past week. And I wish that 30 Rock would knock off the special guest stars (Jennifer Aniston?! Seriously? At least Megan Mullally was funny) and concentrate on some of the other cast members who have been left out of this season so far. Like Frank.

That Other Show Sucks

I missed Earl, so I can't comment on it.

That other show is a piece of garbage. Here, let me sum up every episode. The mother doubts whether she should get married, and the daughter doubts whether she should stay married. Hilarity ensues. Or not.

The Office was great until the ending. But I'm ignoring that plot so I won't comment further. It does seem to be unbelievably cruel what is happening to the Andy character though.

30 Rock...there were a few jokes that seemed to written by middle school students, totally predictable and cheap, but overall a B+.

The Office, Earl, 30 Rock and that other show

The Office redeemed itself this week. Nice hat tip to Nashua, NH. I was hoping they would show some landmarks. Or maybe they did. I was carving a pumpkin and didn't have my on the screen the whole time. The Cornell bit was good and did you catch Pam saying she covered up the mark her ring makes with make up (or something to that effect)? I'm just going to ignore the whole Pam sub plot. Its tiresome.

30 Rock is brilliant.

Earl, solid as ever. Their writers have great imagination.

The other show, I'm not sold on yet. Perhaps in time. Good line from the girl with baggy eyes, "why didn't you come up with craigslist?" (or something to that effect).

On the Record

I will go on the record as saying that I believe The Office has jumped the shark. Not sure if jumping the shark is even a hip term anymore, but whatever, last nights episode sucked and I don't see the plot lines getting any better.

When's 30 Rock coming back? Can't say I'm too excited about the prospect of Megan Mullally guest starring.

Television I Saw, Because I Was Compelled To

Repeats. I 'ate'em. Especially when they are surrounded by new episodes of other brand new shows, because those lousy TV execs know that we are going to watch it anyway. Bass turds.

If you aren't watching 30 Rock or don't think it's as funny or funnier than The Office then there is something wrong with you. Perhaps your parents were mean to you.

That episode of The Office was amazing. The first time I saw it. Obviously, since I've seen each episode of the first 8 seasons of The Simpson's at least a dozen times each, I'm not afraid of watching stuff that I've already seen watching stuff that I've already seen watching stuff that I've already seen watching stuff that I've already seen, but see my first paragraph.

Television That Has to Be Watched

Man. Tough Week to rate the shows. They were all excellent.

I think I have to give the nod to The Office this week though, but it was very, very close.

Must Not See TV

No Office. No 30 Rock. Earl repeat.

Sorry, Andy Barker. NBC is selling you short. I doubt that I will be watching tonight.

Note to NBC, not that you care, because I know that you don't, but a better strategy for marketing new shows might be to sandwich them in between two good non-repeat shows. Non-repeat is key. I don't know. Maybe.

Same thing with 30 Rock. I heard that it has low ratings and might get cancelled. Ohh, but its got the Scrubs lead in you say. Ohh, but you screwed Scrubs in its early years so it doesn't have the audience that it should either.

If you were really smart, and you're not, you would do something like Earl, 30 Rock, Office, Scrubs.

Anyway, buh-bye, I'm off to Lowpot.

Television Seen Before and Not Seen Ever

That was one of my favorite episodes of The Office, and had 30 Rock been on tonight (nbc sucks) it would have still been ranked #1.

I'm not sure about the Andy Richter show. It wasn't bad, but unless it's in a time slot where I am already watching TV after this one episode I wouldn't be seeking it out just yet.

The Andy Bernard character on The Office is great, but I, and several other people the I know, didn't know what happened to him after this episode. He kind of vanished. Little did we know that we had missed the little epilogue telling us that he was in anger management. Looking forward to his return.

In other news, in French class in high school my French name was Bernard. My first name is Andy.

Television That Must Be Seen

It's hard to form an opinion when most of the lineup was repeats. I'll do a better job next week regardless.

This week, there were 6 episodes. And in my opinion I guess it should be ranked something like this:

See, TV, Must

In order of good to bad, with 1 being the best, in my opinion of course.

1. 30 Rock
2. My Name is Earl
3. The Office - This was a repeat. The other three shows might have been repeats too, but I had never seen them. If I had never seen this episode of The Office, I would probably bump it up to #2.
4. Scrubs - it was funny when he poked fun at sitcoms that are lazy and do flashbacks. That didn't save it from the 2nd straight week at #4.

TV: See, Must

I missed the Thursday night lineup, which leads me to rant about a major point of contention between myself and the NBC network. Why is only The Office available on iTunes? Hmm?

I am going to start rating them. No fancy pants type review, not that I have ever been fancy pants, just a simple ranking. 1 through 4 with 1 being the best. Tonight:

1. 30 Rock. Jeez. What a show.
2. My Name is Earl. A very good Earl, but 30 Rock was just amazing.
3. The Office. This doesn't happen often in my mental rankings from the past year.
4. Scrubs. Its a good show but how can it compete with that ^

Label Me Not Impressed

I thought Must See TV was a little mediocre this week. Like the producers of all four shows got together and decided that each would air their worst episodes of the season.

Earl, Office, Scrubs and Rock are NOT repeats this week.

Almost Thursday

I cannot wait for the Thursday night NBC lineup each week.

When was the last time 4 comedies of this quality were aired in succession? Its been a long time, if ever.

I've never watched more than a couple of episodes of Scrubs but I've now seen 4 in a row and I can't believe what I've been missing.
