When I was a kid, I used to love playing on that little island below the dam.

What's the story on that cool building in the background with the tower? Old train station or what?

That is (or was) actually a bakery for as long as I can remember. mmmm... Pearl's bakery - the maple rounds were famous. I have never found anywhere else that has something quite like them. Sadly, it is not open anymore. Unless somebody RE-opened it. Again.

There IS an old train station along the river, though. When I was a kid, it was two restaurants - "Station 319" downstairs, and R&R Depot Pizzaria upstairs. A 10" cheese pizza was $2 - a great snack while on a paper route. I think at least one of those places is still in business. Gagnkee? are they?

it was Pearl's Bakery then it closed for a while and then was Pearl's Bakery again and then it closed again and now its Market St. Bakery and Cafe. They have some pretty tasty lunch items.

A long time ago it was a bank. I'm not sure if that was its original purpose, but I bet it was. I have a history of somersworth book somewhere that gives more detail.

There is an old RR Depot. The building itself is in pretty bad shape. The pizzeria upstairs is called Burby's now and as far as I know Station 319, the restaurant downstairs, is still open, but I may be mistaken. I've never been there. I was thinking the other day that I might take some pictures of that building soon. Before the City tears it down and approves zoning for another Gas/Service Station.
